I am packing for Cape Town right now - as you read these words I will already be in South Africa - and gearing up for what will probably be the biggest single shoot in Bel Ami history. A few days after I arrive I'll be followed by a complete Bel Ami crew: cameramen, production managers, interpreters, drivers, assistants, a person in charge of archiving materials and, of course, models (27 of them!) who are arriving in two big groups from airports in Vienna and Budapest.
One week later, we will be joined by photographers, Photo School participants and occasional celebrity visitors. I have to admit to being a bit nervous about the whole venture. Considering the actual shape of the porn industry right now, the whole thing seems to be out of proportion.
It is our first African trip following a four-year pause - and the last one was a real disaster. So keep your dicks crossed for me. If you pray enough to Dionysus, you'll get a new website as a result plus great summer programming. If you don't pray enough, you'll get increased fees instead to foot the bill.
Originally I wanted to be an investment banker, you know!
Good luck George! I am truly excited for you. I wish I was able to sign up for that photo school but... ugh... budget forbids. I wish there'll be someone to blog your entire adventure while you're there... Johan perhaps? He hadn't been updating his blog lately :(
ReplyDeleteI co-moderate a fan community for Bel Ami and we would greatly appreciate it if you could keep us informed of the models' escapades in Cape Town. Anything you need to promote, we'd be glad to help out. Maybe you can assign one of your crew members to sign up in our currently small community (we've had no chance to spread the word it exists just yet) at http://belami_fans.livejournal.com/ (and please ignore the header, I'm working on a more permanent one).
When you said 'actual shape of porn industry', did you mean gay porn or is it the porn industry in general? Just curious. Because if it's specifically gay porn, let me know.
I hope you don't end up increasing fees. That might lose members on your website. You need to be daring and aggressive promotion may help. I'll be glad to help in that area as well. You might want to consider reaching out to Asian market. It seems the company is well established in the U.S. already.
For now, relax and enjoy what's to come. Good luck to you all!
